I've got no time really fot any gibberish when I listen to the radio. One of my brothers has been banging on about Danny Baker for about as long as I can remember.
Being bored one Saturday morning last year whilst I was back in Lower South Warsaw I stuck his show on t'internet. I was hooked within minutes - the guys certainly got a style missing from modern "media types" - and despite being a great oracle and orator, he's clearly a good listener, too, which people always warm too.
When I get time I may well set up a podcast of his show to catch it , albeit a day late.

I like the bloke and will be booking to see him

Agree about 606. He talks about the media types being all serious these days and football discussions have to be angry, dry and pointy.
Great broadcaster, should be doing 606 now.

He was great and skillful running 606 back in the day it started covering so many different subjects around the game.
Instead of just catering for the -''we need a new centre forward and owners'' callers as of today.

I've been a big fan since his new musical express days. I would suggest any fan logs on to the internet tree house,page upon page of archive stuff from all the radio stations he has worked for. Also has a forum with some interesting characters.

Having worked in London Docks 1965-80 I can so relate to Cradle To The Grave I think it's brilliant.

Just got back, utterly fucking BRILLIANT!! He has some dates left, see if there are any tickets left and fucking GO! Best thing I've seen live in probably the last 5 years.
Amazing stories about Marc Bolan, a grenade at a Millwall match and just so many more. However the best stuff was about his dad, especially if you watched Cradle to the Grave (watch it now on iplayer before they take it off). I won't give too much away but I can't believe anyone would be unhappy coming away from this.
Was scheduled to last two hours, the first act lasted an hour and 50 minutes! He just talks and talks and talks and it's fucking brilliant. And even after three and a half hours you felt you'd just scratched the surface of someone that has had an amazing life.
Just fucking get a ticket and go watch, seriously don't miss this.

I went to his Swindon gig.
Absolutely fucking brilliant.
No script, he just walks onstage and TALKS.
Proper genius, is Baker.
Had a brief chat with him afterwards. He point blank refused to write "come on you Irons" on my programme, but did the hammers sign.
Fair enough.

Loved the TV adaptation if his life story, thought Peter Kay was brilliant as his Da and I hate the cunt.
Was probably the best writer at the NME in it's golden area.

I've been a fan of Danny Baker since the 80's when he was on radio London. He has to be one of the best broadcasters and raconteurs of the last 30 odd years.
It's just a shame that I can't get over to see one of his shows. I'm hoping that one of them will end up on t'internet.

He's superb, you will have a great time. He's also a really nice bloke.
